Fia West Hollywood Concert reviews
Disappointment
Here is the rearranged and switched version of the review:
1. Thrilled to be able to get tickets for my mother in law and me, knowing we'd be able to see a favorite performer of ours AND a favorite show of hers. Win-win, right? Not one, not two, but five understudy papers flew out of our programs when we got to our seats on the second night of the Baltimore tour. FIVE. There was no indication when buying tickets or in the program performance dates that Mann wouldn't be present. I contacted the Hippodrome directly, and there response was to shift all the blame to the tour itself and say there was nothing they could do for us. I understand that things happen and performers have lives, but such a huge number with no warning is unacceptable, especially regarding such a well-known performer. Fia, Christine, Raoul, Meg, and Piangi were all represented by understudies that night.
2. Went into the show with an open mind towards the "updates" to the touring show. Enjoyed most of act one and spent most of act two with the aformentioned head scratching. Some were good, some were meh, and others left me scratching my head. Nothing was straight up awful (sets and performers weren't great but weren't awful either), but compared to the original, it just wasn't as good. I imagine the show would be fine for those who haven't seen POTO, but the whole experience left me with a "meh" feeling of something still wanting.
TL;DR: I didn't "not like" the show, but the changes are there and this version of POTO is my least favorite, even to the film.
